A saturated garden of pink, coral, and chartreuse grows across this antique linen napkin, with a whimsical sun, crescent moons, and a small pink cat woven into the tangle of leaves and blooms. Along the bottom right corner, the napkin’s original cross-stitch embroidery has been kept and extended with drawn flowers, so the old stitching turns into a trailing floral border. The crocheted lace edge frames the whole piece. It is unconventional, bold, and full of small discoveries.
Pinned to the wall with the included magnets, the fabric hangs with a wavy, organic shape, and the lace edge gives it a natural frame of its own. For a more traditional presentation, it also looks beautiful in a shadow box frame, which lets the piece stay pinned and dimensional behind glass.
